Parker Days Parade, With the Hometown Feel

As a kid, some of my fondest memories were of me sitting with my family and friends on the hot pavement waiting for a summer parade. Candy, clowns, neighbors, and floats lined the streets...and I didn't want to miss a second of it! We are looking to create that same feeling this year at the Parker Days Parade. The parade is held on Saturday, June 11 at 10 a.m.

This year we are looking for that home town feeling….and we are well on our way. A few of the current entrants in this year’s parade includes 2 princesses, clubs and organizations from Ponderosa High School, Strongman Competition competitors showing us their muscles, a walking fiddle band, Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies dogs walking, Cub Scouts riding their decorated bikes, float created by Vivax Pro Painting, Vintage Fire Truck, a patriotic float, University of Parker Marching Band, and classic cars.

We are still accepting applications for the parade. Our ideal candidates are those who will emulate the sense of our family oriented community festival, however everyone is welcome.

Floats are a major component of any parade. Decorate the back of a flat bed truck or a trailer you can tow behind your car; get creative and showcase what you have to offer. Performers of all types also make a great impression in a parade. Marching bands, drill and dance teams, baton and fire twirlers, clowns, jugglers and cheerleaders are just a few. If you have a special talent or interest that you know is unique and you would like to present it to the public, the parade offers a great stage to do so.

Who Else Wants Something Fun To Eat?

When you go to a festival one of the greatest pleasures is the food. I’m not talking about your everyday fare, but of the many tasty treats that most of us associate with this type of event. You know what I mean, when you go to the movies you eat popcorn, when you go to the ballgame its peanuts and at the festival it’s, well I will let you fill in the “blank” with your favorite thing.

For me it’s more like favorites. Do I really have to choose between the deep fried funnel cakes covered in powdered sugar, gooey sweet cotton candy that melts on my tongue, soft salty pretzels dipped in tangy mustard, icy snow cones drenched in blue-raspberry syrup…? Oh sorry, I went dreamy. But really, did you fill in that blank with just one thing?

Festival foods are quick, easy and fun to eat. It doesn’t matter if it is served on a stick or in a cone, on a plate or wrapped in paper, the only other thing you need to enjoy these divine delights are your fingers (and maybe a few napkins).

There are so many rich tasting mouth watering choices how could you pick just one? Well I say don’t! Indulge; let yourself be tempted by the aromas that fill the air and the joyous atmosphere that surrounds you. It’s all part of the nostalgia. Go eat some fun food!

Kids On Stage at Parker Days

During Parker Days this year there will be a stage where kids of all ages are going to perform and entertain. This is a great way for local community groups to exhibit what they are teaching our children, how much fun the kids have and pique interest in other kids who may want to get involved.

We are eager to see dancers (ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop), spunky cheerleading and poms groups, entertaining martial arts organizations, singers, bands and drama troupes.

Please note that this is not a limiting list as all youth organized groups are welcome!

We have several 15 to 30 minute time slots available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday during Parker Days. If your group is interested in showcasing their talents on the kid's stage please contact Sara Crowe at sara@eventguy.biz to sign up or for more information.

What Do You Love About Parker Days?

Do you attend the Parker Days festival every year? Many of the families in Parker and its surrounding areas do. What is it that keeps you all coming back for more? It might be one thing or it might be many, but we want to know.

Is it the carnival and all of the fun rides that give you a rush and have you waiting in line over and over? Maybe it is the entertainment like the live bands that have you swinging your hips and shaking your booty. It might be kid’s stage where you get to see all those little ones strut their stuff.

Do you love the food? Is there one thing that you just have to eat every time you go? Is it salty or sweet, maybe both, but it has your mouth watering just thinking about it.

For all of you shoppers out there the market place might be your favorite. Is there a certain vendor whom you visit each year because they offer something special and unique? Can’t wait to see what is new? Is there something that you haven’t seen but would like to?

If the parade is your favorite what do you like the best about it? Is it the noises, the colors from the floats or the performers? Do you just love a good parade…why?

It could be you like the camaraderie and being there with family and friends or that going to the festival is just a darn good time.

Vendors Welcome At Parker Days!

Do you own a commercial or home based business? Are you a crafter, independent contractor or part of a non-profit organization? With over 100,000 people expected to come through Parker Days this year and close to 300 booths available, you won't want to miss this opportunity.

Being a vendor is an awesome way to promote yourself and your business. It puts you in direct contact with the people and gives you the chance to show them what separates you and your business from the rest.

Come and set up a booth. Bring plenty of business cards, brochures, catalogs and anything else with your name on it that you want to hand out. Make sure you have a plan for collecting the names, phone numbers and addresses of your potential clients so that you have a way to follow up on your leads.

Host a drawing and/or a giveaway by doing something fun and getting the people involved. Have a bean bag toss, a trivia contest or a guess how many "items" are in the jar etc. Use your imagination and let it reflect your personality. Dress up your booth by using bright colored tablecloths and display things so they are easy to see.

Let people know you appreciate that they stopped by your booth by offering a free sample or a percentage off their next order or service, whatever pertains to your individual business. It shows that you value their time and look forward to seeing them again.
